Cub's Journal - March 2009
My 2009 showreel / Video portfolio is up!
Finally, I have enough material to make a full showreel! As part of an effort to be more productive, I have made steps to get my freelance business (Pro Vision Media) off the ground again. so far so good; the website is up and running, the showreel is done, and I should be getting my hands on a new HD video camera soon: The Panasonic HVX-202, which can do full 1080P! *drool*
I guess once I have that all sorted I will finally be able to get more projects underway, as I have been penning out so many ideas over the past few months, but did not have all the gear I wanted to shoot them. So hopefully soon there will be a burst of films coming, including a project which relates to me recent fire tests!
Speaking of which, if there are any script writers out there who would love to have their ideas / short films shot and made into a film please feel free to send them to me and we can have a chat! It's a great opportunity for the writers to see one of their ideas come to life, and a great chance for me to develop further and find new challenges!
Anyway, that's all for now. You can watch the showreel by clicking on the thumb below:

Fire and flames, and a whole lot of testing...
Good news is, things are finally in motion with a couple of new projects. By in motion I mean; I was able to drag myself away from the Playstation and DVDs and get to work on some CG tests.

Pretty isn't it? It's a flame animation test, done entirely on the computer using 3D Studio Max. It is part of an upcoming project and was testing the fire for various effects, such as explosions, flares and other forms of pseudo-realistic pyrotechnics!!
I was up till 8am one morning rendering a few of these and caught the most amazing sunrise from the window... will post pics tomorrow.
In the meantime, there is nothing much else to report. So adieu for today!

Sydney Flash Mob!!
Well for those of you who saw the Improv Everywhere freeze in Grand Central station, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. Myself (along with 2 other friends) decided to host a similar event here in Sydney. Why? ...well why not!
We managed to get over 2,200 participants in the event which was spread predominantly via Facebook. In fact I was so active on Facebook during the lead-up that shortly afterwards I had my account temporarily disabled for apparent spamming! LOL!
Anyway, the event was a huge success and I have upload a video which I cut together from all the different camera angles we had on the day. Click the link below to see the film here at DA and leave your thoughts!

It's gotta get harder before it gets any easier.
Remember yesterday, prepare for tomorrow, live for today.
